Greenspeed recumbent trike
March 2011, with the help of the BT benevolent fund I finally ordered A Greenspeed recumbent trike From Australia, Please see the link to their web site. The reason for such a change from solo Cycling to a Tandem is to reseeding eye sight , I am registered as blind as I have lost over 80% of my eye sight mostly from the centre of my eyes. I am still managing to ride solo with my Club the west Middlesex CTC see links. However it’s getting near the end and I’m getting ready for the time it will be too dangerous for the solo bike witch I will miss greatly as losing the independence just to go and get lost for a few hours on my own, or go touring with a tent around the UK. The Tandem will give me the tool to keep my cycling passion alive and my social life ticking over. My good Friend Adrian is the main Pilot / captain However it’s been modified by Greenspeed to take a large range of riding sizes for whoever wishes to take me out. I could not have achieved obtaining this tandem without BT and the charities BT contacted on my behalf. And I had one member of BT staff donate towards it thank you. And a big thanks you to the guys and girls at Greenspeed. This is a web site of its birth and journeys, of what I call my Thunderbird 2, in photos.

MMM Changed my mind about the lights
MMM Changed my mind about the lights I thought the Tandem looked like a snail with eyes on storks!
So took the T bars off and found they mounted on the Mud guard stay nicely.
This will make the guy up front happy to as he was winging about it a little droping big hints about eye line and all that LOL so In the end I agreed..

There you go Nice
We have lights to for the winter
Not bad if I say so myself.
Well out of the way of legs and knees
However I do not think the captain is very keen on them

Starting at Ickenham Pump, to Cookham Lock and Burnham Beeches.
Starting at Ickenham Pump, to Cookham Lock and Burnham Beeches.
First club run for the trike today, out from Uxbridge to Cookham Lock and back via Burnham Beeches. 47.5 miles with a top speed of 35 mph.
Well pleased we worked on the tandem making shore all was running well, realigned the chain it was rubbing on the large ring. Completed the run without any running problems it ran sweet, only one small mishap on swinging from a rode to a cycling path, I had a slight tangle with a wooden post! Skinning my arm and cutting my leg on the gear ring., no problem all part of the learning curve. We are getting there as we get the legs stronger and the gear changing is come in on well, we are sorting out the wrinkles and we are still speaking to each other LOL. But it's coming together the more miles we do the better. The radio communications are working well that's a must.
