Greenspeed recumbent trike

March 2011, with the help of the BT benevolent fund I finally ordered A Greenspeed recumbent trike From Australia, Please see the link to their web site. The reason for such a change from solo Cycling to a Tandem is to reseeding eye sight , I am registered as blind as I have lost over 80% of my eye sight mostly from the centre of my eyes. I am still managing to ride solo with my Club the west Middlesex CTC see links. However it’s getting near the end and I’m getting ready for the time it will be too dangerous for the solo bike witch I will miss greatly as losing the independence just to go and get lost for a few hours on my own, or go touring with a tent around the UK. The Tandem will give me the tool to keep my cycling passion alive and my social life ticking over. My good Friend Adrian is the main Pilot / captain However it’s been modified by Greenspeed to take a large range of riding sizes for whoever wishes to take me out. I could not have achieved obtaining this tandem without BT and the charities BT contacted on my behalf. And I had one member of BT staff donate towards it thank you. And a big thanks you to the guys and girls at Greenspeed. This is a web site of its birth and journeys, of what I call my Thunderbird 2, in photos.

Sad Day but Happy to see the Green speed GTT Going to a new Home
Originally brought as to my eyesight problems, with thoughts of the future cycling when it becomes impossible for me to ride solo but as all things change and circumstances change, mainly getting a pilot that wished to get out regularly was hard to find, and it was just sitting there, and that was a shame as it was meant to move.
I took it out to clean and keep it perfect and would run it around my road but that was sad to as it is such a great Tandem a with a unique set up with the mountain drive, and duel gearing on the back.
And it was fitting to see it do something befitting its   uniqueness in that it was leaving the UK to travel and be used in Germany, what a Journey it’s had in its life time so far Built for me in Australia by Green speed, and I imported it myself, what an over the top rip off from the UK end with import Tax and then VAT on top (another good reason to stay in EU) No rip off and extortion from UK government on buying from the EU.
What Great times we had on it, a show stopper, hard work around London but what a blast, and some great runs into and around the countryside in the past summers, good memories of great fun  Rides , as you can see on the videos here  on the blog,
Adrian the best pilot, well Things change that’s life he got into two wheeled recumbents and although I still have trikes I got into my velo and dynamics change all the time so we Just got into other things, so It was time to sell the green speed and move on too other things, I am so pleased to Gone to Gabi and Arnold as I know its going to be used and looked after and I know there owing to have a lot of fun with it as we did , as to their enthusiasm that brought them all the way from Germany in a Van to Collect it , Fantastic and rely Nice people , the amazing thing  is that it fits them as well it does not need  the settings changing as that both fitted in, may be a link out for the pilot but that’s it.
So it’s off to a new Life and my garage seems empty without it, but I will find some other toy to play with No doubt, I have the Mango and the two ICE  Sprint X  to play with this summer to Hoping to get some camping trips in this summer, and I may be retired soon so I will be a man  with time on his hands to get some dedicated   cycling in.
So end of an era but not of the story, and as I move on Gabi and Arnold will send me Photos of their travels and journeys I will place here. As the continuation of a never ending Journey of the life of the Red and blue Green speed GTT.
